WHY WE ARE:
We’re simply a group of b-boys, b-girls, and non-dancers alike who love and appreciate b-boying. It seems like at some point in their lives, most b-boys and b-girls dream about working on some sort of b-boy publication. This is our version of that dream.
We derived our name from the idea that even within the hip-hop community, b-boying is often reduced to contrived, inaccurate clichés. It is our aim to go beyond that and dig deeper into the people, places, events, cultures, lifestyles, mindsets, histories, happenings, ideas, and anything else that drives what we know as b-boying.
WHO WE ARE:
CALVIN SON
Calvin is a Southern boy who currently resides in Minnesota. In addition to More Than A Stance, he’s written for the Sunday Paper, the Birmingham News, and the Oklahoma Gazette. More importantly, he’s worked as a professional dishwasher and as a sign dancer at Little Caesars. Calvin’s been b-boying since 2002. His lifelong dream of doing babymills was crushed when he realized he’d have to start using his head.
PAUL ROGERS
Paul graduated from the College of Santa Fe with a BA in Moving Image Arts and is currently a documentary video editor. He grew up in Alabama and has lived in LA, Seattle, and Brasil, each unfortunately for less than 3 months. Paul has been dancing since 2002 and blames the internet and websites like this for all that’s wrong with b-boying.
