It’s certainly been leaked for a while, but Common‘s track “U.M.C.” from his upcoming album Invincible Summer is without a doubt worthy of its own post.

The Chicago MC has come a long way since his days as Common Sense, earning his place with in the hip-hop community worldwide with both underground and mainstream listeners through countless classic cuts — not to mention his side careers as an activist, model, and actor.

His upcoming eighth album focuses more on a summertime vibe with electro influences reminiscent of Afrika Bambaataa, courtesy of production by the Neptunes and Outkast producer Mr. DJ.

The album will be released next month, but in the meantime, it’s nice to hear Common embracing the spirit of his b-boy roots, giving us more fresh cuts like this one from back in the day.
