Halloween B-Boy Mix from Franco de Leon
POSTED ON October 27th, 2008 BY CalvinOne of my favorite things about b-boying is that every once in a while you’ll see some gangsta-ass dudes blacked out from head to toe mean-mugging everyone at a jam. Then some bouncy, happy-sounding funk song will play, and they’ll start rocking like they’re wanting to shoot and stab everybody — even though the song sounds like it’s from a soundtrack for a movie about puppies with bunny ears blowing heart-shaped bubbles.
So for anyone who’s ever wanted to just rock hard to some dark, gritty beats, then it’ll probably be worth checking out Franco de Leon’s new mixtape, Live at Hellaween 2.
His site provides some background information:
On October 18th, Hexstar asked me and some talented DJs to throw down music that would bring out the worst in people. He asked that all the music be dark, raw, and aggressive. He asked that no light hearted funk and soul cuts to be played.
Dope. Plus, he’s gone the Radiohead and Paste Magazine route and has decided to let you choose how much you want to pay.
Be sure a burn a copy for your Halloween session, and remember: you’re probably not the only one who thought it’d be original to dress up like a member of Super Cr3w or JabbaWockeeZ.
