For some b-boys, it’s a badge of honor; for others, it’s the reason you never see them without a hat on. Either way, the “headspin bald spot” is no joke. Even Amy Winehouse is a recent victim.
So during the process of reviewing the Headspin Hat with Triple Padding from CypherStyles.com, owner Barry Rabkin told us that he’d be willing to donate one of the beanies to some needy b-boy. He suggested we hold a contest where our readers send us photos of their bald spot, and so that’s exactly what we’re doing.
Send your photo to bald-contest@morethanastance.com and we’ll select the b-boy or b-girl who we determine has the most pathetic bald spot. The winner will receiver one Triple Thick Headspin Beanie from CypherStyles.com and a bagful of our pity.

if someone has a bald spot, isn’t it already too late? the scar tissue has built up, and probably the only way for them to grow their hair back is to take a long break from headspins/trax.
instead, you should have a contest of whoever has the prettiest hair and doesn’t want to lose it, so the cap goes to a good cause.

That’s a good point. However people like you still have your hair and can go around flaunting it all day. The people we’re trying to help need something to keep the bald spot from growing, as well as something to cover it up so no one sees it.
Maybe we’ll have a “Prettiest B-Boy Hair” contest in the future?
in a somewhat unrelated note, losing hair from headspins can be permanent. this type of hair loss is called traction alopecia, and often occurs when people tightly braid hair, causing excess pull on the scalp:

I wear at least 3 beanies at the same time every time I’m practicing headspins. My hair gets twirled if I don’t wear them and it looks stupid and damages my hair! xD If I put on a beanie after that u can see a bump in the beanie where the twirled hair is under it + the beanie is black, but a grey spot has appeared on the top of it ’cause I’ve been training so much :D
