T.I.P. Members Arrested in Seoul for Evading Military Service
POSTED ON May 4th, 2010 BY PaulAlthough the article does not mention any names, Mex from The Bboy Spot posted that Differ and Virus were among those arrested.
According to the article they were faking mental illness in order to avoid the compulsory military service that’s required from every healthy Korean male. The authorities were alerted through an anonymous tip that they had been faking their symptoms.
It would probably be wise to reserve judgment until we’ve heard T.I.P.’s side of the story.
UPDATE: Read Virus’s response here.

That sucks man.. that really sucks…
U know now this year they wanted to come up with 7 Commandos.. and now Differ must go to millitary and my loose his skillz [and venom too].. THAT SUCKS!!!
sry *may loose his skills….
*LOSE
Hmm does anyone know how long they are gonna be in jail?
Unfortunate that they may (not for certain) lose their skills, but other Korean men see it as a point in becoming a “man” and as difficult as it is, its hard to run from the law. What about other Korean bboys; when they came back?
You have to remember being in the military service doesnt always mean fighting at the front line it can also mean office work as a clerk etc that works for the national service 9till5 every week day which means some can still practice every evening and go to jams at the weekends.
I’m almost positive it’s forbidden to do any sort of dancing while they are in service. And going to jams would be out of the question too.
yea JustRoc is right, thats what BennyBen of Rivers Crew did. Office work
Word.

damn, i wish they never got caught. their gov’t can survive with a few less members.
by gov’t… i meant army.
I’m really torn on this issue…
On one side, S.Korea is in a situation where they are constantly threatened from their Northern neighbour. I can understand why the military service is required, seeing that at anytime they could be attacked and forced into a war, they need all their able bodied males capable of taking up arms to defend their country.
On the other side, you have the “kids” who come from tragic backgrounds, work hard at something they love, accomplish some amazing things and then feel like its going to be pulled out from under their feet unless they do something about it.
It’s too easy to pass judgement coming from a county that doesn’t face the same threat of war 24/7.
