For most of us in the Northern Hemisphere, it might as well be winter. That means colder weather. That means the average citizen is scurrying to replace or find the winter accessories buried in the back of the closet.

But not b-boys.

Because even for our b-boy brethren in the Southern Hemisphere, where summer is starting, the time is always ripe to be wearing some ear-burning, scalp-itching, face-dripping headwear.

One can venture to say that this is because padding and slick materials can aid with dancing. But b-boys always look b-boy, regardless of whether they are actually b-boying.

This isn’t a bad thing. Lost in a new city and can’t find the venue? If the weather’s hot, look for the one group rocking sweat-soaked fur trapper hats and headspin beanies. If you’re lucky, they might even be rocking headspin helmets and knee pads while they’re waiting in line to order off the dollar menu. Even the ever-popular all-foam caps were originally designed as a winter alternative to trucker hats.
