Funky Tracks From … Atmosphere?
POSTED ON May 18th, 2008 BY Calvin
This is probably old news to most heads, but we still can’t get over the funky beats on “Strictly Leakage,” the free Atmosphere album from late last year.
Though Slug has always been infamous – whether in the “underground,” “emo-rap,” “hipster-hop,” or “mainstream” music communities – for his self-deprecating, introspective rhymes, this self-proclaimed “party album” showcases some quality charisma from Slug.
More importantly, it reflects the serious funky-fresh groove capabilities of producer Ant, whose dusty samples, flaring horns, and crisp snares will almost make you forget that you’re wanting to dance to a freaking Atmosphere album.
Make sure to check out the extra fast-and-funky stand-out tracks “What They Sitting For” and “Get It To Get Her.”
And most importantly, it’s free, so you don’t have to feel any guilt about stealing music. Or maybe you’re past that.
