Uhhhhnngg. I was trying to think of a good title for this post, like Free Download: DJ Mordecai  – Survival Mode plus other awesome mixes like a two-hour Michael Jackson Tribute and like 20 other funk mixes that are all awesome. But I think I’ve settled on just posting up the noise that I made after spending a whole afternoon on the Double Standard Crew website browsing through their selection of mixes.

It all started when DJ Mordecai sent us a link to his newest b-boy centric mixtape called Survival Mode. I downloaded, I listened, and I liked it… a lot. It’s a selection of 50 funk tracks… some you’ve heard, some you haven’t (I know, very descriptive of me huh?). It’s sponsored by Kulture, and you can even view his full tracklist at the link above.

So I went back to his blog and started downloading all the mixes that I saw on there, until I got to his two-hour tribute to the King of Pop: Michael Jackson. Oh man… does that thing rock. I won’t even try to convince you to download it; if you haven’t already clicked on that link, then you’re no friend of mine.

The Double Standard Crew, consisting of DJ Mordecai and DJ Barnacles, apparently have a weekly show where they spin some really dope heavy funk. Most of the posts contain two hours worth of music, so I still haven’t made it through every mix yet. But from the ones that I have heard, I can tell you that you’d be crazy not to at least go preview the mixes available (there is a preview player at the bottom of every post).
