Though I haven’t seen the actual movie, it’s probably safe to say that this is either awesomely bad or just plain bad.
From the movie’s IMDb page:
In 1984, loser pizza guy Whitey Johnson is run over by a semi truck on live television, making him a local hero. The world watches as Whitey vows to not only walk again but to win his town’s breakdance competition. Whitey struggles to conquer bully breakdancers, to win the heart of a disinterested girl, and live up to the name, “The Breakdance Kid”.
The b-boying segment towards the end is solid, but this trailer raises a lot of questions. Was this a precursor to Kickin It Old Skool? Are the plot, acting, and production value intentionally bad, or are the filmmakers being “ironic”? Why is the main character learning to b-boy from the disco-dancing drunk driver who ran him over? Has anyone actually watched this movie from beginning to end? Why are there so many copies of it on eBay?
All I know is that it gives me a weird feeling in the stomach — the same funny feeling I get when I’m at Ross Dress for Less for too long, or when I see someone do really sloppy powermoves.
