Why Free Doesn’t Care about Winning Battles
POSTED ON June 5th, 2009 BY Calvin
Free was one of those b-boys who always made me feel simultaneously crappy and wonderful when I grew up watching videos of him dancing — crappy because I felt like I’d never be that creative, and wonderful because the stuff he did just looked so damn pretty.
The Seattle Channel recently shed some light onto the mysterious and funky Free in a video feature. It showcases a Coosh Crash Test jam, reveals what non-b-boy job Free works for a living (hint: it’s a job that requires as much coolness and creativity as you’d expect), and explains why Free doesn’t worry about winning battles.
Pretty nice feature all around; I just wish they didn’t have to use Free as an archetype to explain b-boying as a whole. Plus, those wiggly little letters during the section where they explain the elements of b-boying? Creepy.
Ch-ch-check it out here.
