Lazylegz Interview + ILL-Abilities Video
POSTED ON July 8th, 2009 BY CalvinAbove is an amazing video of a showcase from ILL-Abilities Crew, a four-member crew of physically limited dancers including Kujo (who we featured here) and Luca Patuelli, better known as Lazylegz of Canada.
[here] recently published an article focusing primarily on Lazylegz in which he drops some really inspiring knowledge. Yeah, the word “inspiring” gets thrown around a lot these days, but this is serious “I need to go do something amazing right now” material.
“The important thing about dance is to feel comfortable. What I wanted with these kids was not to learn the moves but to start in a circle and be comfortable with the others. More for themselves to feel confident learn about themselves and their bodies and what their limitations are and feel comfortable with it.” …“I think everyone needs to learn to dance. Not on a professional level. Just to express yourself. This year I had the opportunity to teach dance to a group of disabled children. They learned that it is a form of self-expression. Everyone should dance for themselves. Some people do it to entertain. Others to express themselves. They’re expressing themselves, having fun, that’s all that matters. “
