Kid David and Lil Ceng in Sony Walkman Unwired Spot
POSTED ON October 5th, 2009 BY CalvinAnd you thought wireless headgear was just for businessmen and kids with braces.
Filmed in Mumbai, this commercial features the gel-haired b-boys Kid David and Lil Ceng getting down in front of a giant glowing Rubik’s Cube.
On a practical level, the Sony Walkman Unwired seems like it could actually be useful to b-boys and b-girls; it boasts a two gigabyte hard drive and a 12-hour battery life (and the “quick charge” feature allows you to charge it for three minutes to get 90 minutes of play).
Reviews generally seem to be positive, and the price tag of 5,000 INR ends up being a little over $100. (Edit: as reader Jaesung points out, the Walkman Unwired is currently on sale for $60 here.)
I don’t know about anyone else, but I’ve definitely had my experiences trying to dance with a skipping portable CD player, crushing my MP3 player, getting tangled in cords or ripping my headphones from the jack.
Does this mean that b-boys and b-girls are going to buy these and sync them up so that they can battle to the same music without disturbing others? Will Coosh (who featured the Massive Monkees for its own headphone line) respond with its own wireless headphones? Feel free to let us know what you think.

I prefer to create noise pollution with my boom box.
these will do in times when others need peace. but they won’t know what the heck the beats the dancer will be hitting. so that’s the downside.
the plus will be the freedom to be in a shell, own music world and others listening to their favorite jams. maybe the future generation of dancers will need them.
