Top Clips of the 2000s: Flying Steps – Breakin’ it Down
POSTED ON December 20th, 2009 BY CalvinEdit: Homie Tyrone from the Notorious IBE wrote in and let us know that this song was originally by Rockin’ Nation (the lyrics suddenly make a lot more sense, right?) from Holland. Check out the comments for the original video and song, which I might just prefer to the version above.
When I first saw this video by the renowned German crew Flying Steps, only two questions crossed my mind: “Where can I download this song?” and “How much money did they spend on special effects? Because there’s no way anyone will ever be able to really do that many of those ‘airflare’ things.”
Almost a decade since its release, now that I’m older, the video plagues me with dozens of unanswerable questions: How did they end up in this giant clock/Matrix with lasers and flames? Why don’t they seem concerned about finding their way out? Did they practice Octagon-style so that they wouldn’t fall of the edges? Do their families know that they are engaging in such reckless b-boy behavior? Do they have health or life insurance?
Where can I get one of those remote controls that freezes time and makes you appear in a cloud of smoke, and would I be allowed to use them in cyphers? How is it that it’s 2009, yet this video still has better production value and graphics than most of the clips I see today?
But then that X-Files-esque melody gets stuck in my head (probably for the next few weeks) and I’m too busy whistling along to care anymore.

This song was first released by a BBoy Crew from Holland called Rocking Nation.
It was a minor succes so the record company sold it to SONY germany who had Flying Steps under contract.
