Top Clips of the 2000s: Free’s Beautiful One Man Show
POSTED ON December 27th, 2009 BY CalvinThere aren’t a lot of people in the world who can label their own work as “beautiful” and not sound completely presumptuous, but in 2007, Free pulled it off, well, beautifully. (You can see how his name popped up more than once on our “Best B-Boys of the 2000s” Editorial here.)
While the common public probably associates sessions like this with performers hitting in the streets for money or younger kids trying to impress girls at the mall, Free’s project was an inspiring reminder of the simple joys of dancing on the street. It’s a fun clip to watch, and more importantly, you can tell he had fun filming it. A bouncy Feist remix sealed the deal.
The Beautiful One Man Show spawned a slew of imitators and tributes, most notably the response from RocSick and Do-Knock (of Super CR3W fame) below. And, yeah, I have to come clean and admit that Adán and I tried to make our own version in Birmingham, Alabama a few summers back. Hopefully, it’ll never see the light of day because the results were, uh, less than beautiful.

oh wow.
That was pretty inspiring.
I think its time to do some MALL BREAKING!
(Let’s see how fast Rox-it can get kicked out of a mall due to “liability reasons”)
