An Exhaustively Updated Compilation Of Lil Mama’s Best Quotes From America’s Best Dance Crew
TO THE QUOTES! CHECK BACK FOR FREQUENT UPDATES!

First things first – did you know that Lil Mama is only 18 years old?
Maybe it’s just me, but I always figured she was at least in her mid twenties or so. Or maybe I was just too quick to take her name to heart, you know, “Lil Mama” – like, literally, a small mother.
Anyway, the reason Lil Mama is relevant to the b-boy and b-girl community at large is that she is one of the judges on America’s Best Dance Crew – a show that has given surprisingly positive coverage to true hip-hop dance. Last year’s winners were, of course, the Jabbawockeez.
And Super Crew – a crew featuring, among others, Do Knock, Ben, Ronnie and Rockadile – has been faring surprisingly well this season.
Of course, as exciting as all this is, you can’t forget that it’s an MTV show presented by Randy Jackson, a man who’s too boring to even deserve jokes at his cost. The show is about viewers and money, meaning that at the end of the day, there are probably very few people who actually care about the dance.
Which brings us back to our Lil Mama. When it boils down to it, she holds a significant amount of power when it comes to whether or not legitimate b-boys are going to get the exposure and respect they deserve.
One might argue that she has some degree of street “cred,” with such memorably gangsta hits such as “Lip Gloss” and her remix of Avril Lavigne’s “Girlfriend.” But really, it’s painfully obvious that she knows nothing about dancing itself, immediately making her one of the most interesting elements of the show.
If not for the fact that she always has a mane of hair exploding out of the back of her sequined fitteds, then Lil Mama is genius because she says things that don’t make sense and makes up words – the way Bush Jr. might sound if he were reincarnated as a crappy female rapper.
For all these reasons, we’ve begun compiling a list of Lil Mama-isms from America’s Best Dance Crew. Take note that many of them actually have nothing to do with dancing – rather, she gives advice about life itself. Coming from an 18-year-old, some might say that she’s being presumptuous. We like to think that she’s just wise beyond her years.
- You did a human roll. The two girls, um, y’all did a human roll in, like, the middle of your performance. Y’all peeled out, and y’all did a human roll.
- Y’all kilt it this week, y’all turnt it up.
- The first time I ever seent y’all, y’all did y’all thing.
- Keep working hard, kids. You’re gonna be big. You’re gonna go big.
- Your name Kevin, right? Antoine, sorry. Antoine.
- I just want to congratulate both of you guys for making it this far. Phresh Select for being an inspiration to young guys in Philly. Who, this is, this is a state that is really known for violence – it’s one of the most popular states.
- Y’all took y’all challenge, nah seriously, you really gotta pay attention. Y’all took y’all challenge, and took it to its highest potential. Y’all became Superman. “We fly high.” What human do you know that can fly higher than Superman, you feel me?
UPDATE 1
- Alien? That’s your name? I-lan? … Eileen. Um. Heh heh heh. No, no disrespect. It’s really, um, it’s really hard to pronounce.
- I believe that your family not supporting you in the way that you want them to gives you the drive and the passion to go hard. And it makes you put that battery in your team’s back to go hard.
- And sometimes, with a crew like y’all – I told y’all, y’all have swag. Be smoove. Give y’all swag … Don’t have to prove a point to nobody. If you got it, you got it … You cocky, stay cocky, and keep working on your… perfection. Keep working on it, alright?
- I would like to go into a slow-mo from when Robert took a backflip towards the rest of his crew members and got right back into these intricate… steps that… you know what I mean? It’s… complicated.
- It wasn’t… It wasn’t, it wasn’t, and it wasn’t even the tough choreography because when you guys first started out, you was really stiff to me.
- Don’t ever be afraid to put that little sugar and spice on it and everything nice, ya dig?
- Ryan? Ryan? Justin? Yeah, you did like a little flip. But you kinda put your foot up. Can we get a slow-mo of that? When he – yeah. Like a tuck. Hahahahahaha!
- I’m gonna have to say that you guys really just… turnt it up. Y’all turnt it up. Y’all turnt it up! Nahaha. There’s a strong saying – there’s a strong saying that’s “Go hard or go home.” A lot of crews – I don’t know if they can hear me right now, or if anybody can hear what I’m saying – you have to go hard or go home.
- So, y’all going for the Lakers, right? Nah… hahaha. Naw, I’m kidding. I just wanted to shout out the yellow and puuurple! Nah. Y’all definitely remind me of a basketball team’s dance squad.
- I’m not, I’m not hating or nothin’, y’all cute, mhm. Um, I like the way y’all move and everything. I just feel that it will, uh, it will pigeonhold you to be a cheerleader, basketball team dance squad if you continue to, uh, choreograph your moves around that.
- And then y’all did like this… explosion thing with y’all body and everybody just… It was crazy. I really appreciate y’all for going hard. For real. For real.
- She took her body low. Looow. Looooooow.
UPDATE 2
- The diagonal was a little off. And you never want to have someone… out of… the diagonal.
- I love the fellas. I definitely love the fellas.
- The goofin’ around definitely shows a sense of humor in your group. ‘Kay, it’s like, we definitely goof around a lot at practice or whateva, but that’s what makes you the best at what you do.
- Okay, um. These guys are followers. They’re following their leader. And their leader, he has a lot of problems. He’s jealous of one of the guys, Matt. He’s jealous ‘cause the girl’s gone with her ex-boyfriend. You wanna be in the middle, and you’re sloppy. You gotta pick it up, Mouse. Learn to be professional. Learn to be professional.
- I think you guys really fount a way to put everything into one without making yourselves look horrible.
- I think that this group is really smoove. The way you play your stunts off is like, really cool, is like, I can’t even explain it.
- The jump in the air, I thought you was gonna come down like, BOW! But y’all came down with a grind. And I think that the ladies love it, right? Right?
- I didn’t like it. Haha. Nah. Sorry.

man…come to think of it she never really touches on anything that the nsync guy and the other dude is sayin. She’s always talking about their face and stuff. Some times I can’t watch the show unless the super crew is performing and i like one of the girls in fanny pack but other than that i’m not too into it as i was last go around. and i guess it’s due to my growing knowledge and respect of b-boying. it would just be wrong for super crew not to win it, seeing as Ronnie has defeated some of the dopest. The people on the show have talent or whatever and they do a few moves from breakin, but when super crew hits the stage, you see em rockin, doin air chairs, and my personal favorite footwork
