It’s gotta be the shoes! Check out our picks for our favorite b-boy kicks past, present, and future — and even a few joints inspired by b-boys themselves — in our newest triple feature.

Perhaps Mr. Funke of the Lords of the Underground expressed it best in the classic b-boy track “Chief Rocka”:
“Now fam-a-lam, I’ll be damned, slam jams the weak
Could it be the skunk weed that makes us oh-so-funky?
Now hold it, let me choose, couldn’t be the booze
No it’s the shoes (The shoes?) It’s gotta be the shoes!”
Indeed, it’s gotta be the shoes. Unless you opt to rock barefoot (and risk stinking up the circle), there are few purchases that will impact your b-boying both in terms of performance and looks the way a nice pair of kicks will.
And while some of us may still be clunking around and stubbing our toes on the “shell toes” of Adidas Superstars or working the Velcro straps on $9.87 pairs of Wal-Mart shoes (fondly referred to by some as “Vietnams” or “Do-Knocks”), we chose to ask a few of our favorite b-boy sneaker freaks to give us the low-down on their favorite shoes to rock down low on the floor.
After all, can you really get on the good foot if you’re not supporting that foot and making it look fresh in the process?
